Welcome
Welcome to Mathieu Roy's jewelry world!
Creation for men and for women.
_____Technique_____
Acid etching is a surface treatment technique that fascinated me when I learned it during my training. I also favor it in the design of most of my jewelry.
Even if some of my creations are more delicate than others, the result obtained by engraving gives a lot of character to them, more to the more massive pieces. The curved lines ending in points - sometimes recalling tribal shapes - accentuate this effect.
The mediums used are mainly oxidized sterling silver or gold. The use of two metals in the same piece of jewelry also gives a very interesting contrast.
My collection includes several pieces for women, but a large place - more and more - is allocated to the male clientele, which is often neglected in jewelry.
_____Professionnal career_____
After a college-level training completed in 1997 at the École de joaillerie de Québec, I continued my apprenticeship of jewelry for several months with a jeweler established in the greater Montreal region, Jean-Pierre Gauvreau.
In 2000, I launched my own collection at the Salon des métiers d'art du Québec in Montreal (SMAQ).
Since then, I have been presenting my production at this show as well as Plein Art Québec (PAQ), while receiving my clients by appointment.
I also present pieces from time to time at various exhibitions.
Apart from my personal production, I have been teaching since 2005 at the École de joaillerie de Québec. Creation and teaching, the best of both worlds!
